End-to-End Solutions
XYT Lapping Film Factory provides tailored end-to-end solutions for assembling and testing optical connectors. Our portfolio includes tools for stripping and cleaving fibers, gluing and curing fibers into connectors, and testing assembled, polished, and cleaned connectors using microscopes, interferometers, and handheld or automated test equipment.
Definition and Polishing Process
Polishing films are optimized for polishing fiber connectors after bonding the fiber into the ferrule. They consist of a substrate coated with fine particles like diamond, aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, or silicon dioxide in specified grain sizes.
The choice of polishing material depends on the ferrule material:
- Diamond Films: Suitable for ceramic or zirconia ferrules.
- Silicon Dioxide Films: Ideal for final polishing of ceramic or zirconia ferrules.
- Aluminum Oxide or Silicon Carbide Films: Mainly used for stainless steel ferrules.
The polishing process involves moving the fiber connector end over the polishing film to remove excess material and polish the end face. The process typically includes the following steps:
- Glue Removal and Grinding
- Coarse Polishing
- Fine Polishing
- Final Polishing
Polishing is usually done by wetting the film with a liquid and manually moving the fiber over the film in a figure-of-eight motion using polishing discs or pucks. Automated systems can also polish multiple connectors simultaneously.
Conclusion
XYT Lapping Film Factory offers a diverse range of high-quality polishing films and accessories, ensuring superior performance and versatility for fiber optic connector polishing. Our solutions are designed to meet the highest standards, providing exceptional results for various applications in the fiber optics indus
